TELL YOUR STORY

Sunday, September 28, 2025

Summary

In this sermon, Pastor discusses the importance of Christians becoming storytellers rather than feeling they need to be theologians to share the Gospel. He emphasizes that many believers hesitate to share their faith because they fear not having all the theological answers, but suggests that simply telling our personal stories of how Jesus transformed our lives is more effective and approachable. The sermon outlines a framework for developing a personal testimony using the journalistic questions of who, what, where, when, and why - encouraging congregants to craft a 2-5 minute version of their salvation story that they can readily share with others.

Intro Prayer

Heavenly Father, as we gather to discuss how we can better share Your story and our stories, we ask that You would open our hearts and minds. Help us to see the power in our testimonies and give us the courage to share them with others. Lord, we pray that You would reveal to each person in this group exactly what You want them to learn today. May our discussion honor You and equip us to be better witnesses for Your kingdom. In Jesus' name, amen.

Life Application

This week, take time to write out your personal testimony following the who, what, where, when, and why framework discussed today. Keep it to 2-5 minutes in length. Practice telling it aloud to yourself, then share it with at least one trusted Christian friend who can give you feedback. Then, pray specifically for God to provide an opportunity for you to share your story with someone who needs to hear about Jesus.

Key Takeaways

We don't need to be theological experts to share our faith - we just need to be willing storytellers of what Jesus has done in our lives.

Our personal testimonies are powerful tools for evangelism that connect with people on an emotional and relational level.

Using the framework of who, what, where, when, and why helps organize our salvation story in a clear, compelling way.

Jesus commanded us to be His witnesses, which means sharing our firsthand experiences with Him.

The story of how Jesus transformed our lives should be the most important story we ever tell.

Ending Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for writing us into Your great redemption story. We are humbled that You would use ordinary people like us to share the extraordinary message of Your love and salvation. Give us courage to tell our stories boldly, clarity to tell them effectively, and opportunities to tell them frequently. Help us to remember that it's not about our eloquence but about Your power working through our testimonies. May the stories we share lead others to write their own chapters in Your kingdom narrative. In Your name we pray, amen.
