21 Days of Prayer

April 29 – Day 17

“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.” – Romans 8:11 (ESV)

This verse reminds us of something we often forget: the same power that raised Jesus from the dead now lives in us. Think about that for a moment. The resurrection is not just something we celebrate—it is something we carry. The Spirit of God, who brought life out of the grave, now dwells within every believer.

That changes how we see everything. We can sometimes feel powerless in the Christian life. Powerless to change. Powerless to overcome sin. Powerless to make an impact. And as we think about reaching the Oxmoor Valley, it is easy to feel that same way. We may look at our size, our resources, or our influence and wonder what difference we can really make.

But this verse reminds us that our effectiveness is not rooted in our strength. It is rooted in His power. The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead is at work in us. He gives life where there was once death. He brings change where there seemed to be none. He works in ways that we cannot see and accomplishes what we could never do on our own.

This means we do not have to rely on ourselves. We do not have to manufacture results. We simply walk in dependence on the Spirit, trusting that He is working in and through us.

And as we do, we can have confidence: God is able to bring life to hearts in our community. He is able to save, to restore, and to transform. We are not powerless. The power of God is at work within us. Let’s walk in daily dependence on the Holy Spirit, trusting that His resurrection power is at work in us and will bring life through us to others.

Father, thank You that You have not left us to live the Christian life in our own strength. Thank You for the gift of Your Spirit, who dwells in us. Help us to believe that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work in our lives. Teach us to depend on Your Spirit instead of relying on ourselves. And as we go into the Oxmoor Valley, we ask that You would bring life where there is spiritual death. Save, restore, and transform hearts through the power of Your Spirit. We pray this in the name of Your Son and by the power of Your Holy Spirit, Amen.
